The Cloak of Anonymity

I spent the day attending our Retail HR Conference @ Emperor's Palace.  After a full day we booked into our rooms, freshened up and then attended a pleasant dinner.  I am a bit tired so I thought I would leave the rest of the team to party.  I also had this mail thudding around my head the whole day and wanted to get it out of my head an onto my blog ... I had written the gist of it on a piece of paper when I got to the conference centre this morning as I could not log onto my laptop.

Here goes ...
  • I started my blog as the result of a challenge from my friend Alison who has a lovely blog.
  • I have never been good at keeping a journal and I find that this helps me keep information about where I've been and what I have done and also my thoughts of the day's events readily available ... and I often use what I have written as journalling for my scrapbook pages.
  • It is also a vehicle to keep my niece in America and my friends in New Zealand updated on what is happening on this side of the ocean.
Imagine my surprise this morning when I popped onto our home e-mails and saw this comment posted by an anonymous person ...

Subject: [True Scrap Addict] New comment on What you do .....

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "What you do ....":

The very next time I read a blog, I hope that it does not disappoint me as much as this one.
After all, Yes, it was my choice to read through, but I genuinely believed you would probably have something interesting to say.  All I hear is a bunch of whining about something you can fix
if you weren't too busy looking for attention.

It is interesting that under the cloak of anonymity some people say unnecessarily unkind things!  I forgive this person for their acid comments and welcome them to never read my blog again.   I know that comments like this cause many bloggers to stop posting ~ this is MY journal and this will not stop me from writing honestly and from the heart and keeping my family and friends updated.

When I comment on any blog I make sure that my comments are kind or I don't comment at all.

Two thoughts I leave for you anonymous ...
  1. As Ellen says at the end of every show ... "Be kind to each other"; and
  2. "Be kinder than necessary because each person is fighting their own battle".
I'm off to bed ~ sleep tight y'all and see you tomorrow.

  1. Lynn this is rediculous, but definitely a spam comment. You must consider moderating your comments before publishing, but please dont turn word verification on. You might start receiving more of this spam. You just keep on writing in your beautiful style as its my tonic every morning seeing a post from you on my blogger dashboard.

  2. Hi Lynn, you KNOW this is rubbish! I got about 10 of these comments recently and just deleted them. The intention seemed to be to get me to go to their blog, which I didn't. We are strong brave ladies who cannot be threatened by blog terrorism! Don't let this crap steal your joy and peace. Keep doing what you're doing on your blog. Love ya!!

    1. Hey my friend, Thanks for your support. I won't allow this blog terrorist to steal my joy and the peace I am working so hard at. This post just bubbled to the surface when I read the comment and has made me look within to make sure that when I say something about someone that I would be brave enough to say it to their face ~ I will put a guard before my own mouth and make sure that I act under the cloak of kindness all the time.

  3. Hi Lynn, I fully agree with Alison. This happened to me over the Christmas period and into the New Year, with up to 3 "spam" emails per day. Anonymous used to comment on older blogs and my new blogs, with links to their blogs, but like Alison, I never clicked on their links. I changed my settings and since then, have not received any more. Some people have nothing better to do with their time than criticize other people's hard work. I enjoy reading your Blog, so keep up the good work, and take no notice of what has been said.
    Lots of love,
    Patricia
