The not so nice part of my job

 This morning left home in the rain ... of course most people's brains turn to mush at the sight of rain!!!!  I got onto the concrete highway and drove through to Westgate to help my Manager there to prepare for a hearing.  I got there early so sat in my car and enjoyed my breakfast and then went into the centre and sat on one of the benches and accessed my e-mails and did a bit or work until the staff arrived and opened the branch. 

I attended the branch meeting and then got down to work.  Although I love this part of my job it is also the 'not so nice' part of my job as there is always the possibility of a staff member losing their job.  When I was finished at Westgate Lower Level Branch , I drove through to Krugersdorp CBD and had to drive around the block a couple of times as there was no parking.  I worked with Petro who is one of the more seasoned managers and we finished up after 4 and I took to the roads.  Thankfully the traffic was quite light and I popped past Pick 'n Pay to get ice-cream so I could make my boys a milkshake after dinner.

I was really hoping to get some scrapbooking done tonight but the exhaustion bug has gotten hold of me and I am going to get to bed early as I have another early morning, and half day meeting, a telephonic interview and 300 e-mails calling my name.

Connor has been working on a speech for Monday 13th and I challenged him to get it finished by today ... the topic he chose was how kids compare school to prison (they get some weird topics).  Two of his tools are ... his trusty laptop which he uses to access the internet (they have to show proof of research) and Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'.

I remember us using exactly the same album against our teachers in high school and that was over 30 years ago!!! "Eeeeekkkkkk!!!!"  I would love to be a fly on the classroom wall when he delivers this speech. 

He is also working on a prepared reading assignment and wanted to use The Picture of Dorian Gray however he could not find it at the library so he decided to read from The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy ~ not sure many of his classmates have even heard about this book ~ and he is rather excited about using something that no-one else has probably read.  I am really delighted that I have a son who is well read.
