PARK RUN @ Rietvlei Farm

I kept seeing Wendy post on Facebook and her blog about ParkRun so this morning I joined her for the 5km walk at Rietvlei Farm.

If you go onto the ParkRun website this is what they say ...

 We had an idea. We ran with it. 

Parkrun started back in 2004 when 13 runners got together on a blustery day in Bushy Park, Teddington, UK. We’re now an international family of over half a million runners (and counting).

... it’s all still based on the simple, basic principles formed from the start: weekly, free, 5km, for everyone, forever.

 I LOVED this lady's sweatshirt which said ... Being weak is a choice but so is being strong ~ Today I decided that strong is what I am choosing from now on!!!!

 Near the end of the walk we passed some ducks who had obviously already finished their walk and were lazing in the water!!!

 At the end of the walk they have a whole lot of water bowls for the four legged runners/walkers ... this little guy is 12 weeks old and is absolutely gorgeous!!!

 A bit tired and exhilirated to have finished the 5km's ... Sisters are doing it for themselves!!!!
I had just finished with this post when I went onto my e-mails and found a mail with the results from today ... I was only expecting this around Tuesday ... WOW!!!!  Not bad being in the middle of the field for the first walk ... watch this space!!!!


Congratulations on completing your 1st parkrun and your 1st at Rietvlei parkrun, JHB South today. You finished in 513th place and were the 239th female out of a field of 547 parkrunners and you came 28th in your age category VW50-54. . Well done on your first run. We have set this as your PB.
