QUICK TRIP TO PE WITH ALI

5 - 7 October 2018: Ali mentioned that her Uncle in Port Elizabeth had moved into an old aged home and she wanted to go and check on him to make sure everything was ok.  I offered to go with her and the date was set for 5th October 2018.

On the evening of the 4th Ali sent me this photo with the caption "So where do I put the rest of my stuff??"

Ali arranged an airport shuttle to fetch us at her house at 13h00 ... We were REALLY surprised when a Lexus arrived to fetch us.  It was a wonderful drive to the airport ... it was insanely busy on the highway but we were cocooned in the back seat of this luxury vehicle chatting while the driver did the negotiation of the traffic ... Thanks for the treat Ali!!!!

We hadn't had lunch so we visited a new restaurant at the airport and had waffles ... Ali had a savoury one and I had one with bananas caramel and cream ... OMGoodness!!!!! It was gooooooddddddd!!!!!

After a wonderful flight on Safair, where I got a couple of rows of my crocheting project done, we arrived in PE to lovely weather.  We collected our car and set off for the hotel ... my hunny calls PE the 10 minute city ... and we were at the hotel in about 10 minutes.  We checked in and found our beautiful family room ... two separate rooms and a bathroom.  This is the view ...
We had dinner in the dining room and then spent some time sitting and crocheting looking at this view.

Ali and her Uncle Winston
Saturday morning we had breakfast in the dining room and then set out to visit Ali's uncle.  We spent an absolutely delightful 2 hours with him and then it was lunch time for them so we left.  Just before we left he said "So I will see you at 2 again?" and Ali said we would not be coming back.  We drove back to the beach front and had a light meal at the Blue Waters Cafe.  While we were chatting we decided to go to the shops and get some things we identified that he needed and take it back to him.  He was bowled over when we were back just after 2.  It was like his wish came true :)

We decided on Simply Asia for dinner at the little shopping centre down the road from the hotel ~ As usual we had a stunning meal and then back to the hotel to crochet in front of our picturesque window.  It is amazing that there never seems to be a quite moment at the docks.  After a shower we were in bed rather early as we had to be out the door quite early on Sunday morning.

We decided that we would have breakfast at the Port Elizabeth INTERNATIONAL Airport after returning the car ... OMGoodness!!!!   It was DEAD at 7am and we managed to get a cuppa coffee and a terrible toasted sandwich before we boarded.

Boarded and ready to head home
Our flight was awesome and we were collected again by an airport shuttle ... this time it was not a great experience.  The driver seemed to be in a huge hurry and drove like a bat out of hell.  Thankfully we got home safely.

Thanks for letting me accompany you on this little adventure Ali.
