MERRY CHRISTMAS

We were delighted when we got an invite from Steph's parents, Frik and Carol van der Merwe, to spend Christmas day with them.

We arrived at 11 and soon got down to the mammoth task of opening the mountain of Christmas gifts.  My hunny and I were spoiled along with the rest of the family.

The highlight of the gifts was when there was one HUGE box left and it was for Steph's brother Calvin who we had teased during the whole time of opening gifts that he was getting too many gifts.  It was an awesome gaming chair which he had his eye on.  Apparently the box had been standing around the house for a while and he didn't even see it.

We chilled until late afternoon when the lunch FEAST was served ... There was lamb cooked in the weber, gammon, pork belly, corned beef, the MOST AMAZING pumpkin fritters, roast potatoes to die for, rice, two delicious salads followed by trifle, jan ellis pudding (OMGoodness!!!!), chocolate log and two ice creams/cream/custard.  This is the first time EVER that I would have given up pudding for food and the pudding was exquisite.

The last time I saw a Christmas table decorated so beautifully was the year we spend Christmas with Wendy and Keenan in Germany.

The special personal touches did not go unnoticed ... Thank you Carol.

Steph photo bombed ... unfortunately her eyes are closed
Even the pets got their own stocking and the cats got some catnip in theirs which was really funny to watch them busy with the stockings.

Connor was absolutely delighted with his Siphon Coffee Maker (A vacuum coffee maker brews coffee using two chambers where vapor pressure and vacuum produce coffee. This type of coffee maker is also known as vac pot, siphon or syphon coffee maker, and was invented by Loeff of Berlin in the 1830s) from Steph's parents and he proceeded to make us coffee after freshly grinding coffee beans.

Thank you for an awesome day Frik and Carol.
