21 December 2018: Wendy left for the States tonight ... She spent the afternoon at our house re-arranging the massive amount of sweets and chocolates she was taking to the kids and all the Christmas gifts from herself and me. Her friend Jacqui popped around to say "Bye".
Once at the airport the suitcases were wrapped ... a very quick check in and then to Byte for dinner. Connor and Steph met us there and had something to drink with us.
Wendy went through at 8 as she didn't want a replay of her last trip where she had to run to get to her flight on time. We were shocked at how quiet the airport was so hopefully this time she could take a slow walk through.
We went from International Departures to Domestic Arrivals where we fetched Linda Wood who had come up to Johannesburg for Christmas. Her flight was a bit early and before long she came through and we made our way to her Mom to drop her off. All in all a lovely evening.

A note about Byte ... Whenever we go to the airport we make a plan to have dinner there. The last number of times we have gone to Capello and have not been wowed so we decided on Byte tonight ... WRONG DECISION!!!!! When we walked towards the restaurant there were a group of waiters standing and chatting but 3 of their tables were standing uncleaned ... I told our waiter that if I owned the restaurant I would have fired all of them ~ and of course he laughed at that. He had to clean the table before we could sit down ... The floor under out table was filthy ... The rim of the bowl that my salad came in was definitely not wiped before it came to the table (although the salad was delicious). Sad that this is the state of affairs at a restaurant in our OR Tambo INTERNATIONAL Airport.
