24 November 2018: I joined Alison and her family at the Pantomime this year ~ 10 of us in total.
As always Janice Honeyman put on a SPECTACULAR show. There was even a 3D element to it this year which made me shout out when a bomb blew up right in front of my face. I am sure there were a few little people who had nightmares that night.
Sadly no Tobie Cronje in sight ... I REALLY missed him!!!! Desmond Dube did a phenomenal job!!!
Well done to Janice Honeyman and the whole cast and crew on an awesome Panto.
I have to make mention of the restaurant or more to the point the waiter who served me at the Stages Restaurant. I got there early and as I hadn't had breakfast I decided to grab something there. The South African French Toast caught my eye however when it got to me it was not properly cooked so I ate the slice that was better cooked and asked the waiter to get the kitchen to cook the other slice more. He came back with a whole new plate of food which was even less cooked that the previous plate. When I told him that it was worse he asked me to explain what was wrong which I did and he said that he would speak to the kitchen about it. He then asked if I wanted anything else and I said no that I would just have another coffee and a bottle of water. Image my absolute surprise when I got the bill and all he charged me for was one cup of coffee (and I had two) and the bottle of water. I said to him that was not what I wanted and he said "You didn't get what you wanted so that is the right thing to do". I wish I had gotten his name because he deserves all the praise for his customer service.
I looked at this incident against what happened to me at The Circus Cafe a few weeks back and the focus on customers is just so very different. I had ordered a latte which was standing in front of my menu and when we placed our breakfast order the waitress leaned across the whole table to take my menu and knocked the coffee all over me ... I paid for the replacement cuppa coffee ... you would think after spilling a full hot cup of coffee onto a patron that the least you could do is give them the coffee for free. I smelled like coffee for hours ... thankfully I had on a dark outfit so you couldn't see the coffee marks.
I really believe we need to educate and empower our staff so that they can make a decision like the waiter at Stages.
