2 June 2018: Connor and Steph wanted to review X&O Patisserie @ 27 Boxes today ~ They specialize in the Cronut Milkshake which is a speciality milkshake topped with a cronut which is a combination of a donut and croissant ... It sounded really interesting and Connor invited Taryn to be there as well.

Ali was recuperating from her gall bladder operation so I visited her in the morning and then made my way through to Melville. When I drove into the parking lot Richard was right behind me on his bike ~ he had finished his work in the garage early and decided to join us. We found Wendy, Taryn, Connor and Steph at a little place where Taryn was buying koesisters (Cape Malay koesisters are totally different to the plaited koeksisters you may know. For starters, they're spelled (and pronounced) differently, dropping the second 'k'. The Cape Malay version is more like a doughnut, spiced with ginger, naartjie peel, cinnamon and aniseed, cooked in syrup and sprinkled with coconut)
and made our way around to X&O. As we walked up to their 'box' the guy inside wiped his hand across his full face and my stomach turned. I told Connor that I would not be eating from this place as the hygiene looked suspect ... no one had on gloves or hair nets. Richard said he was hungry as he hadn't had lunch yet so he went and got something to eat at Philly Cheesesteak and we decided that we would go back to the little place where we had met them when we came in ... This little place is called FOOD.CUPPA.LOVE.
Richard had his take-away in his hand as we walked in and we were met by Samm who once we were seated insisted on moving Richard's meal onto a plate and giving him a glass for his drink ... WOW!!!! I have never experienced anything like this before.

We settled down and had a look at the menu. It was a bit late in the afternoon and they are a place that believe in quality food so they do not make mounds of food and what they do make is made fresh so many of the items on their menu were sold out. I decided on the flapjacks which were served with bacon and syrup ... yummy. Great coffee flowed as well. Their prices are also amazing.
We also had the pleasure of meeting Erald Felix who runs the place with the help of his daughter. He is an amazing man who used to present 50/50 on TV and when I looked him up I found he had also taken part in Strictly Come Dancing S.A. Our afternoon could only be described as "gesellig" ( convivial; cosy; genial; homelike; snug; sociable)
We told them that we would be back next Sunday with the rest of the family.
