GABRIELSKLOOF WINE ESTATE

The itinerary for Monday 19 March 2018 reads:

07h00 Breakfast at house and Scrapbooking
11h00 Leave for Gabrielskloof Wine Estate ~
  • 60th birthday lunch for our special friend Leonie
Stop in Kleinmond village on our way back to the house
  • Visit Lu Dal Interiors craft shop for the crochet enthusiasts.

There is a house next door to where we were staying that blocks the sunrise so this morning I went outside to take this photo ...

The drive through to Gabrielskloof was lovely ... When we arrived we were met by Pepe ... who is absolutely beautiful and is unfortunately blind.  He is very friendly, accutely aware of his surroundings and if you did not look into his eyes you would not know he is blind.

Linda arranged a wine and chocolate pairing ... Now I am not a red wine drinker and I REALLY dislike dark chocolate but I did my best ... I tried to taste the chocolate with the wine but that was horrible so I decided to taste the wine on its own ... I even decided that The Blend was the best of the red wines and bought my hunny a bottle.

When we were outside surveying the landscape I saw these beautiful doors and knew we had to take some photos here ... I don't know where Miss Wood was so there are only photos of 4 of us ...

After we had all tasted the wines we tasked Linda with finishing off our glasses of wine ... She tried but failed!!!!

We had a lovely lunch ~ Leonie and I had the crispy pork belly while the other girls had steak.  We were so full afterwards that we decided not to have dessert.

On our way back to the house we stopped in Kleinmond and visit Lu Dal Interiors ... they sell wool and material.  We were really spoiled for choice here.  I got some raw cotton for a project I want to try and I got Leonie two balls of wool and a crochet hook as she had left hers at home.  Linda also bought some wool and a hook to start a project.

We popped into the Spar for some supplies and Ali and I got an ice-cream for dessert.

Linda had ordered a Black Forest cake for Leonie and we picked that up on our way out of Kleinmond.

Read my next post for what happened next .....
