KEEPING THE CLUTTER MONSTER UNDER CONTROL

On the 8th January 2018 I blogged about feeling overwhelmed and that I started decluttering to get that feeling under control.  As most people know decluttering is a continuous activity.  When you live in a home with other people you cannot declutter their stuff without their permission so I usually organize that stuff for them ... LOL!!!!!

I went through my wardrobe and purged those things I know I am no longer going to wear and also some stuff went into the top of the cupboard that I am not ready to part with.

One of these is a donate pile and the other a keep pile.
Your guess is as good as mine which is which ... LOL!!!!!
In that post I said that the next area I was going to tackle was my craft room ... This was a really big job as I had to clean and organize a whole host of things after our December weekend away and then everything that got dumped there ~ we all know how those piles mysteriously grow when we aren't looking.  I am really embarassed to show you this photo .....

I tackled each area individually ... unpacked, washed shelves, purged what no longer makes sense to me and packed back the stuff that I need where I need it to be and this is the end result ...

And then I added the flowers Jenny gave me for my birthday which lasted nearly 3 weeks!!!! and my favourite photo of Connor & Steph.

I am really looking for some beaded flowers as they last longer than fresh ones.

In the background you can see my typewriter which I moved into my craft room.  This is the typewriter that I used to practice on in high school ... going back to 1978!!!!
I love my teddies who keep me company while I scrap.  Another favourite thing is the photo of two of my favourite scrapbookers ... Becky Higgins and my friend Ali ~ Love their styles.
Next to get the Lynn G treatment was my card supply boxes ... They sit in the bottom of this cupboard and needed some TLC.  I had bought some new blank cards in New Zealand which needed to be housed and the boxes needed a thorough sorting.  Everything came out and I repacked them with only those things that I love.  I can't wait to host a card making day with my sisters and friends.
The last area to sort ... where a lot of stuff got dumped and the donate box was situated ... was the patio.  I worked systematically through everything and packed things away where they belonged, put stuff in the donate box and listed some stuff on facebook which got sold quickly.

My decluttering motto is "One in = One out" and I try to stick to this as much as possible ... One big problem is where wool and my scrapbooking stuff is concerned!!!  The good thing is that I know that you are never finished decluttering because you bring new stuff in all the time.  You need to constantly keep the clutter monster under control and get the stuff out of your house otherwise it just works itself back into your home.
